ABOUT DURGAPUR

About Durgapur: Durgapur is a metropolitan city & a municipal corporation in Paschim Burdwan district in the state of West Bengal. Durgapur is a dream city of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. This city was planned by two American architects - Joseph Allen Stein & Benjamin Polk in the year of 1955. Durgapur is also known as industrial city. It comprises of large scale industries & many small scale industries. Durgapur steel plant ( DSP ) , Steel Authority of India (SAIL), Alloy Steel Plant  (ASP), Durgapur Project Ltd  (DPL), Philips Carbon Black Ltd (PCBL), are few large scale industries. 

Apart from them, number of small scale industries are running in Durgapur which not only produce various by products but also playing a very vital role in the flourishing economy of Durgapur. 

Durgapur also well known for his green beauty, which provide a suitable habitat to live in this green city. Because of this green environment Durgapur is still untouched with pollution havoc.
